Audio Foundry adds Volvo Cars to energize audio & mobility innovation

Updated: Jan 8

BRIDGEND, Wales, and GOTHENBURG, Sweden – December 23, 2025: Swedish carmaker Volvo Cars is embarking on an exciting new chapter by joining Audio Foundry, an automotive audio technology collaborative platform. This collaboration is set to bring forward new concepts in mobility and redefine the role of audio technology for a safer and unmatched dynamic experience.

Volvo Cars is known for combining Scandinavian design with progressive technology, and this collaboration emphasizes the commitment to exploring new ideas that may be deployed in future vehicles in line with the brand’s core values. Volvo Cars will energize Audio Foundry with their brand new EX90 that will be made available to the members representing the automotive audio ecosystem. The new electric vehicle, housed in Audio Foundry’s recently launched California satellite location will serve as a sandbox for members to create collaborative concepts.

“We firmly believe in the power of collaboration,” said Dennis Heltorp, Audio Systems Engineering Manager of Volvo Cars. “Our collaboration with Audio Foundry gives us the perfect platform to explore the future of in-cabin experiences and, specifically, how audio can help transform safety, wellness and entertainment.”

The collaborative plan to focus on:

New system architectures: Trial combinations and permutations of technology & layouts that deliver unparalleled clarity and depth while being compatible with Software Defined Vehicle approach.

Audio for Wellness & Safety: Exploring soundscapes that elevate wellness for the driver and passengers, working in tandem with driver support technologies to maintain high standards of safety.

“Audio has become more than entertainment in modern vehicles, it’s now integral to safety, comfort, and connectivity,” said Tony Haberman, Advisor of Audio Foundry.

With the ability to quickly turnaround thoughts on paper to first level concepts in the Volvo EX90, Audio Foundry and its members have chalked out innovation projects for 2026 and hope to debut some of those projects via events and hardware meetups.
